Two Past Building Division Chairs Receive 2010 Â鶹ÊÓƵChair of the Year Awards

Past Building Division Chairs Mike Kenig of Holder Construction in Atlanta, Ga., and Jerry Anderson of Anderson Construction Co. in Ft. Gaines, Ga., both received National Chair of the Year awards at the recent Â鶹ÊÓƵAnnual Convention in Las Vegas, Nev. Kenig (pictured above with Â鶹ÊÓƵof America's past president Ted Aadland) received the award for his service as chair of AGC’s Training, Education and Development Forum.  He has been active in Â鶹ÊÓƵof America for more than a decade, serving as chair of the Project Delivery Committee, Industry Liaison Committee, Building Division chair for two years, and three years as a member of the Â鶹ÊÓƵExecutive Board. Last year, in addition to chairing the Building Division, Kenig agreed to lead AGC’s New Training, Education and Development Forum.  This Forum was created to provide resources and information to enhance performance and career development opportunities for individuals, member firms and the construction industry.  The Forum consolidated three Â鶹ÊÓƵcommittees into one comprehensive community and was the first of AGC’s new Forums as established by the Â鶹ÊÓƵExecutive Board. Anderson (pictured above with Aadland) was recognized for his service as chair of the Â鶹ÊÓƵInvestment Committee.  This is the second time he has been honored as Chair of the Year.  The first came during his service on the Â鶹ÊÓƵof America Safety & Health Committee.  Anderson is also a past National Treasurer and Building Division Chair. As chair of the Investment Committee for the past three years, Anderson had to make very difficult decisions in light of today’s turbulent markets.  He increased communications with the Committee to make sure that Â鶹ÊÓƵwas on the right course with its investments and industry policy statement.  He also implemented a quarterly joint conference call with the Â鶹ÊÓƵEducation and Research Foundation to review the performance of their investments.  Anderson’s leadership and commitment have helped to ensure that AGC’s investments remain on a solid foundation. This is the fourth year in a row that a Building Division leader has won this award, following Eric Wilson, John Tocci Sr., and Chuck Greco.
