Washington, D.C. - Â鶹ÊÓƵ of America (AGC) today launched the Â鶹ÊÓƵEducation Excellence Awards (EEA) at the 2nd Annual Training & Development Conference. The new program will recognize the most innovative and collaborative training and development programs sponsored by Â鶹ÊÓƵChapters and contractor members during the 2008 and 2009 calendar years.
"Education and training is the cornerstone of building a productive work force," said Â鶹ÊÓƵchief executive officer, Stephen E. Sandherr. "We are excited to launch this new program in recognition of Â鶹ÊÓƵmembers' and chapters' outstanding efforts to grow our skilled work force and build careers for them."
Eight EEAs will be given in October 2009, during the 3rd Annual Training & Development Conference in Atlanta, Ga. An Â鶹ÊÓƵChapter and contractor member firm will be awarded in each of three categories: Craft, Supervisory, and Project & Executive Management. One award will be given to the outstanding Instructor of the Year. A Grand Award will be presented to a firm or chapter that demonstrates learning and performance as a top concern, reaching the highest level of excellence for construction training and development programs at all levels of the organization.
Applicants will be judged by an anonymous selection committee of Â鶹ÊÓƵmembers with a background in education and training. Applicants will be judged on the type of program and the major elements of the program, including targeted job functions; enrolled individuals; history of the program; tools, programs and materials used; and demonstrated improved performance, productivity and success.
EEAs are open to all Â鶹ÊÓƵgeneral and specialty contractor members in good standing, Â鶹ÊÓƵChapters and individuals employed by these organizations. Non-members may not apply.
